17. Rothorn has the view of the highest peaks of the Valais Alps making it very popular to visitors. In summer, the Rothorn is the popular starting point for a variety of demanding hikes and in winter it is the gateway to beautiful sunny pistes. The cable car carries visitors to the summit of Rothorn where visitors can enjoy the magnificent view of the alpine mountains. There, the Peak Collection is an exhibition of sculptures that explore Zermatt’s alpine world and its most famous peaks. The open-air exhibition of the Peak Collection offers mountain enthusiasts a new view of the alpine world. Mountain guides carried stones from the summits of the mountains portrayed and articulated their own experiences of each peak in individual texts that carry their signatures. Stones, words and images come together through the work of the mountain guide Willy Taugwalder. The sculptures are arranged in a 100 meter circle around the Restaurant Rothorn and evoke the character of the different mountains. At 3103 meters, visitors can see not only the Matterhorn but many other famous four thousand meter peaks such as Weisshorn. While enjoying the famous four thousand peaks, visitors can enjoy a delicious Valais or Swiss specialties at the mountain restaurant.
