Incidentally, do you already know how raclette came to be invented?
In the mid 19th century, two Valais winegrowers lit a warming fire on a cold autumnal morning. They placed their packed lunch consisting of Alpine cheese, bread and (naturally) white wine next to the fire. This led to the cheese being too close to the flames and starting to melt. To prevent the cheese from dripping into the fire, one of the winegrowers took his raclette – the grape knife – and spread the cheese onto a slice of bread, and the raclette was born! Over the course of time, the raclette has been refined to its current form.
